European Hostel

I recently stayed at the European Hostel and had a great experience overall. The location is perfect—centrally located in San Francisco, with easy access to public transportation and popular spots like Union Square, SoMa, and downtown. It’s a convenient base for exploring the city. The room was basic but comfortable for a hostel stay. It included the essentials I needed, and the shared spaces like the kitchen and lounge were a nice bonus. The hostel offers both dorms and private rooms, depending on your preference and budget. As for cleanliness, I was impressed. The staff did a great job maintaining cleanliness in the common areas and bathrooms. My room was clean when I arrived, and I saw staff regularly disinfecting high-touch surfaces. It’s a solid option for budget travelers or backpackers looking for a social, affordable stay in the heart of the city.

A special shoutout to the front desk staff – especially Nick, who was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. He made check-in smooth and gave great local tips that made my trip even better. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a clean, convenient, and friendly environment. I recently stayed at the hostel and had a situation where one of the guests in my shared room (named Ridgway) was smoking illegal substances inside the room, which made other guests uncomfortable. We reported the issue to the front desk, and although a room change wasn’t immediately available, the staff acted promptly by warning the individual and reminding him of the house rules. Unfortunately, the same guest repeated the behavior the next night. This time, other guests and I decided to record evidence to help the management take proper action. We shared the video with the front desk manager, Nick, who responded immediately. He personally went to the room, confirmed the violation, and respectfully asked the guest to leave the property for failing to follow the rules and disturbing others. Concerned for the guest’s condition, Nick even contacted medical assistance to ensure he received proper care. After the situation was resolved, Nick thoroughly cleaned the room himself and assured us that such incidents would be handled more firmly in the future. He also personally apologized for the inconvenience and handled everything calmly, respectfully, and professionally. This experience showed me that the management here genuinely cares about the comfort and safety of their guests. Thank you to Nick and the staff for handling a difficult situation so responsibly.

Visited San Francisco for a work trip and this place was the most affordable & accommodating. I drove to the city, and as expected parking in the area was expensive. Best solution to parking is SPOT HERO website that shows you more secure & affordable parking in the area to reserve during your stay

I liked the low price, which I expected at a hostel, and this was even lower than I expected. The kitchen and adjoining TV room was O.K., with comfortable couch and a couple of padded chairs.
